Our Mission

UK Politics Decoded is an independent civic journalism platform dedicated to making UK politics transparent, accessible, and accountable. We publish clear, evidence driven explainers that help readers understand how power works, where systems fail, and what meaningful reform could look like. Our work clarifies legislation, exposes structural weaknesses, tracks accountability gaps, and presents policy options grounded in the public interest not party interest. Whether you’re a student, educator, journalist, researcher, or simply a curious citizen, our platform exists to help you navigate and reshape the political landscape.

Our Team

Liam Gibbins - Editor, Publisher & Writer

Liam founded UK Politics Decoded in 2025 and leads all editorial, governance, and publishing decisions. He specialises in decoding complex UK public policy, translating legislation, Whitehall process, and political accountability into clear, evidence driven explainers accessible to a general audience. As the platform's Responsible Editor, he is accountable for editorial standards, legal compliance, and content integrity.

Rhiannon Gibbins - Administration & Writer

Rhiannon manages the day to day administration of the platform and contributes to article writing, helping ensure UK Politics Decoded runs reliably and consistently.

Our Story

UK Politics Decoded launched in 2025 after Liam Gibbins identified a consistent gap in accessible, plain English coverage of UK public policy. Complex legislation and government announcements were either reported in ways that assumed significant background knowledge, or not covered at all. The aim was straightforward, to produce clear, evidence driven explainers that any reader could follow, regardless of their political background.

The platform has published over 300 articles to date, sharing coverage across X, Facebook, and LinkedIn to help the public stay better informed about the decisions that affect everyday life.

In 2026, UK Politics Decoded became a regulated member of IMPRESS, the UK's only press regulator recognised under the Royal Charter framework, a commitment to independent, accountable journalism from an early stage.

What We Cover

The platform began with policy explainers and expanded into civic guides helping readers understand how political systems work. Following a wave of reported hacking incidents across the UK in 2025, UK Politics Decoded published a series of home network security guides, practical public interest content aimed at helping ordinary people protect themselves online. The platform later expanded into alternative policy proposals designed for educational and civic use, giving students, researchers, and policy thinkers a grounded starting point for debate.

From the outset, all articles carry full source citations displayed within the article itself. Sources used in published pieces are also archived locally to prevent link rot, ensuring our journalism remains verifiable long after original pages may have moved or disappeared.

Our audience now includes members of the public, journalists, civic organisations, educational institutions, and think tanks seeking structured, evidence based context on UK policy.

Looking Ahead

We are expanding our reach to YouTube, bringing video explainers to audiences who prefer to watch and listen rather than read.

Our Motto
