UKPoliticsDecoded is an independent, non‑profit, public interest publication.

We believe that trust is earned through openness about who we are, how we operate, and how we are funded.

This page sets out our approach to transparency, financial independence, and editorial integrity.

👤 Ownership

UKPoliticsDecoded is owned and operated by Mr. L. Gibbins.

We are volunteer led and operate without political, corporate, or government influence.

All editorial decisions are made independently and in the public interest.

đź’° Funding Model

UKPoliticsDecoded is currently entirely volunteer run and not for profit.

We do not:

  • Accept political party funding
  • Accept donations from lobbying groups
  • Accept funding that could compromise editorial independence
  • Sell advertising space
  • Sell sponsored content or advertorials

We do:

  • Cover operational costs personally or through small voluntary contributions
  • Reinvest any future revenue directly into the platform
  • Maintain strict independence from political and commercial interests

If we introduce donations or membership in the future, all contributors will be publicly disclosed in line with best practice for civic publishers.

⚖️ Editorial Independence

Our editorial work is guided by our Editorial Standards, which emphasise:

  • Accuracy
  • Neutrality
  • Evidence based reporting
  • Clear sourcing
  • Transparency about methodology

Funding or the absence of funding never influences our editorial decisions.

đźš« Conflicts of Interest

We maintain a strict conflict of interest policy.

We will never:

  • Publish content influenced by donors, sponsors, or political actors
  • Allow personal relationships to shape editorial decisions
  • Accept gifts or incentives that could compromise independence

Any potential conflict will be disclosed openly and managed transparently.

đź”® Future Funding Plans

As UKPoliticsDecoded grows, we may explore:

  • Reader donations
  • Grants from independent journalism foundations
  • Non‑profit funding streams
  • Partnerships with academic institutions

Any future funding model will be:

  • Publicly disclosed
  • Fully transparent
  • Structured to protect editorial independence
  • Consistent with our non‑profit mission

We will never introduce advertising or sponsored content that compromises neutrality.

đź“‹ Regulatory Alignment

We are preparing an application for formal regulation with IMPRESS, the UK's independent press regulator.

Our transparency and funding practices are designed to align with the IMPRESS Standards Code, particularly:

  • Clause 1: Accuracy
  • Clause 4: Privacy
  • Clause 6: Transparency
